Hello!

I recently went on a day trip to Singapore during this golden holiday week. I had originally planned to visit the Sky Garden inside the Capita Spring building, but unfortunately, it was closed on Thursday and Friday. So, I could only take pictures of the exterior of the building...

Isn't it impressive? I definitely plan to visit it next time when I have the chance. Haha, I'll make sure to leave a review.

So, I contacted my friend in Singapore and since they know that I want to be in a relationship, they suggested that I visit Yueh Hai Ching, a Chinese-style temple. Therefore, I'm planning to give a brief review of Yueh Hai Ching.

1. Introduction

Yueh Hai Ching Temple is a Chinese-style Taoist temple located in Raffles Place, Singapore. It was built in 1826 and is one of the oldest temples in Singapore. The temple was constructed by people from Chaozhou, who originated from the southeastern part of China. The name of the temple translates to "Temple of the Tranquil Sea."

2. History

Yueh Hai Ching Temple was built in 1826 by Lim Phang, the founder of the Man Say Soon company. The temple served as a place where seafarers traveling between Singapore and China could offer prayers and express gratitude for safe journeys. Originally located on Philip Street, which was near the coast at the time, the temple was gradually moved further inland due to land reclamation.

In 1845, when the Ngee Ahn company was established, the management of the temple was transferred from Man Say Soon company to Ngee Ahn. The current temple building was constructed between 1852 and 1855.

In 1895, the Ngee Ahn company submitted architectural plans calling for a major renovation of the temple. By the late 19th century, the Chaozhou people had become the second largest and influential Chinese minority group after the Cantonese in Hong Kong. Yueh Hai Ching Temple served not only as a religious site but also as a community center and meeting place. According to historian Phang Sin Ngon, the chairman of Ngee Ahn company once requested prayers at the temple for the success of the First World War.

From 1995 to 1997, additional restoration work was carried out, and on June 28, 1996, the temple was designated as a national monument of Singapore. The most recent restoration work took place officially from 2011 to 2014, although research on the temple's structure for restoration purposes had begun a few years earlier. This restoration project received high praise, and the temple has received various accolades for its restoration and preservation efforts.

3. Construction

Yueh Hai Ching Temple follows the typical architectural style of Chinese Taoist temples. The temple is a wooden structure with a front facade of three bays and side facades of two bays. The roof is covered with green tiles, and there are several decorative dragon motifs on the roof. The main entrance of the temple is painted in red, and above the entrance, there are characters that read "Temple of the Tranquil Sea."

4. Interior

The interior of Yueh Hai Ching Temple is highly ornate. Inside, there are multiple deity statues, all of which are gilded in gold. At the center of the temple, there is a statue of Mazu, the goddess of the sea and the protector of seafarers.

The temple also houses several altars where offerings are placed.

5. Prayer

Yueh Hai Ching Temple is renowned as a representative temple that is believed to grant prayers related to romantic relationships. People who visit the temple often come to pray for success and blessings in their love lives. It is believed that by offering prayers and making donations at the temple, one can seek guidance and assistance in matters of love and relationships.

Inside the temple, visitors can be seen engaged in heartfelt prayers, expressing their hopes and desires for finding love, maintaining harmonious relationships, or seeking guidance in matters of the heart. The atmosphere is filled with a sense of devotion and anticipation as people light incense, kneel before the deities, and offer their sincerest intentions.

Yueh Hai Ching Temple has earned a reputation as a place of solace and hope for those navigating the complexities of love and relationships. Whether seeking guidance in finding a soulmate, rekindling a romance, or ensuring long-lasting love, visitors believe that the temple's divine energy and spiritual connection can positively influence their romantic journey.
